Tahajjud namaz niyat is the intention or declaration of one's intention to perform the Tahajjud prayer. The Tahajjud prayer is a voluntary prayer performed after Isha and before Fajr. This prayer is highly recommended in Islam and is considered one of the most virtuous acts of worship.
In this article, we will discuss the importance of the Tahajjud prayer and the steps to perform it. We will also discuss the significance of making the Tahajjud namaz niyat.
The Importance of Tahajjud Prayer
The Tahajjud prayer is a voluntary prayer that is not obligatory, but highly recommended. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer." [Muslim]. This Hadith shows the importance of the Tahajjud prayer in Islam.
The Tahajjud prayer is also known as Qiyamul-Layl, which means standing in the night. This prayer is performed in the last third of the night, which is the time when Allah (SWT) descends to the lower heaven and asks His servants if they need anything. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: "Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?" [Bukhari].
The Tahajjud prayer is a time when a Muslim can communicate with Allah (SWT) in a more intimate way. It is a time when a Muslim can seek forgiveness for sins, ask for guidance, and make dua. It is also a time when a Muslim can reflect on his or her life and the purpose of existence.
Steps to Perform Tahajjud Prayer
The Tahajjud prayer is performed after Isha and before Fajr. It is recommended to sleep for a while and then wake up for the Tahajjud prayer. The following are the steps to perform the Tahajjud prayer:
Make Wudu: Make ablution (Wudu) as you would for any other prayer.
Make Niyyah: Make the Tahajjud namaz niyat, which is the intention to perform the Tahajjud prayer. The niyyah can be made in your heart or said aloud.
Pray Two Rakaat: The Tahajjud prayer is performed in sets of two rakaat (units). Each set is known as a nafilah. You can perform as many sets as you want, but it is recommended to start with two rakaat.
Recite Surah Al-Fatiha: In each rakaat, recite Surah Al-Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Quran) and another surah or a few verses from the Quran.
Perform Ruku and Sujood: After reciting the Quranic verses, perform Ruku (bowing down) and Sujood (prostrating) as you would in any other prayer.
Repeat: Repeat the above steps for each set of two rakaat.
End the Prayer: End the prayer with the Taslim, which is saying Assalamu Alaikum to the right and left.
